An Oral Health Therapist (an OHT or Hygiene Therapist) is a degree qualified dental professional with a minimum of 3 years university study that is highly skilled in caring for you and your children. Oral Hygiene Therapist’s care for all areas of preventative care for both adults and children as well as treating more complex gum disease.
Oral Health Therapist’s are trained in many areas of pediatric dentistry including examinations, x-rays, fissure sealants, restorations, extractions and pulp treatments of children up to the age of 18. They can also place temporary restorations, take x-rays, carry out in-chair teeth whitening and complete digital scanning for adults.
Oral Health Therapist’s are extremely important in assisting the Dentists’ in diagnosing oral conditions and play a vital part in the holistic nature of our dental team.
